Tree Reductions

Worker using branch cutters to cut off branch

I offer a wide spectrum of tree reduction services, from thinning, light pruning and targeted cuts through to heavier reductions and pollarding. Arranging a site visit will be easy, we can then discuss options and I’ll try to address any concerns you may have about the process. I can also explain how a particular tree might react to a given cut regarding regrowth and changes in the crown structure.

Pruning cuts are carried out in accordance with British Standard 3998 2010 (Recommendations for Tree Work). As a general rule, we try to cut to strong growth points which are at least 1/3 the diameter of the branch being cut away. Often it’s necessary to thin the foliage on the inside of the crown a little, particularly on trees that have been reduced in the past.

Getting the wood on the ground without destroying anything is the tricky bit when cutting trees. By using modern climbing equipment and techniques on the whole this is usually achieved, but be warned, if you cut trees for long enough sooner or later a stray branch will get loose and cause damage. These situations will test the honesty and integrity of your chosen contractor, so choose carefully.

If you need a tree reduced and you live in the Croydon or Bromley area please get in touch. I’m happy to take a look, offer my advice and provide a no obligation quote.
